STEM Days Grants

Title:  Regional STEM Days for Students

Funding Period:  July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025

Total Funds Available:  $35,000:  A minimum of $3,500 per region

Goal/Purpose:  To encourage education entities and business/industry partners to participate in STEM activities/projects for K-12 students within each of the four designated ND STEM Ecosystem Regions (Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest) providing greater opportunities for rural and tribal communities. Grant awards will be distributed throughout the four designated regions with a goal of at least two (2) projects from each region.

Eligible Recipients:  K-12 districts, Area Career and Technology Centers, REA’s, Colleges and Universities, non-profit organizations and other entities who directly impact K-12 education.

Selection Criteria:  Projects will be evaluated based on:

    • Benefits to Students
    • Sustainability Plan
    • Workforce Skills Component
    • New Projects
    • Involves at least three (3) school districts
    • Appropriateness of Project
    • Completeness of Application
    • Number of students engaged in STEM activities
    • Previous number of projects awarded within each region

Proposal Deadline:  Applications will be accepted starting May 1, 2024. Grants will be reviewed on a continuing basis until all funds are expended.  All funds will be awarded by March 1, 2025.

Project Timeline:  Projects may begin upon approval and must be completed no later than June 30, 2025.  Final reports may be submitted immediately upon completion of the project , but must be submitted no later than July 15, 2025. Failure to submit required reports and invoices by the deadline will result in non-reimbursement of funds.

Allocation of Funds:  Grant requests may not exceed $3,500.  Projects may begin upon approval.  Approved projects will be funded on a reimbursement basis.  All approved projects must be completed and all invoices dated no later than June 30, 2025.

Expenditures:  Funds may be used for the following:  presenter travel and fees, activity supplies, transportation of students, facility rental, etc.  Funds may NOT be used for food, clothing or for purposes of supplanting state and local funds and thus cannot be used to fund existing programs.
